We made a new drum machine.
SUPER 606 runs on iPhone and iPad, standalone or as an AUv3, and every drum is synthesized in real time. No samples, so no two hits are exactly the same.
The goal was to keep the immediate feeling of classic hardware. Turn it on, tap in a beat, twist a few knobs, and see where it takes you. At the same time, we wanted to add the things that are actually useful on a modern touch screen.

MAGIC Preset Maker builds a whole sound, effects setup, groove, and tempo that hang together. SMART FILLS looks at what you already have and writes a fill that fits. All of it runs on your device. No prompts, no cloud, nothing leaves your iPad.

We’ve released the synthesis code behind the XL “608” kick, the snare, the analog-style toms, the clap, and the melodic metallic hi-hats, under the MIT license.
And the code is already out in the wild. Someone built 6W6 with it: a 606-style drum machine for Ableton Move, running on the Schwung platform. That’s exactly what we hoped would happen. Learn from it, break it, vibe code your own drum machine, and show us.
If putting the drum synthesis code out there saves a little AI usage, water, and environmental impact from everyone trying to recreate the same thing from scratch, even better.

Record straight to WAV, export MIDI, loops, and stems. Eight individual outputs plus a stereo mix in AUv3. Sync via MIDI Clock, Ableton Link, or your host. Delay, overdrive, reverb, filter, and crusher onboard, most with per-drum routing. Sequences save separately from sounds.
